Here are some of my air cannons:
There are two basic types of cannons. The first uses a combustable to propel the projectile, while the second uses compressed air.
Combustion Cannon
Pneumatic Cannon
There are three basic forms of pneumatic cannons. An AirCompressor is reccomended to avoid hours of pumping with a bicycle pump.
The first uses a sprinkler valve to let a blast of air from a tank through a barrel.
The second type uses a diaphragm that flexes to un-seel the barrel and let the air from the tank propel the projectile.
The third type uses a piston to unseal the barrel and let the air from the tank propel the projectile. This version's advantage lies in that fact that the piston can move several inches, while the diaphragm can only flex a small amount.
