Chess

MrScience on the ICC:

MrScience is a computer chess player on the Internet Chess Club. It runs Ruffian 1.0.1, with the 3, 4, and 5 endgames. It is currently on a 2000+ (1.67 gh) AthlonXP with 512mb of pc133 memory, although a faster computer is sometimes used when challenged by stronger computers. This Palomino core processor has a locked multiplier of 12.5, and a normal system bus of 133. (133x12.5 = 1.65gh). Since the motherboard only supports a maximum bus of 100mh the processor initially ran at 1.2gh (100x12.5) To correct this, I performed surgery on the CPU under a microcrope with a needle and cunductive paint, to rewire thre multiplier to 16.5. Thus, the CPU now runs at its rated 1.65gz (100x16.5) speed.

MrScience is only on when the computer is not being heavily used, which is only a few hours a day. It takes on weaker oponents more often though. It will play anyone unrated when unattended, but when attended, rated games are prefered.
