Effect of Pure Oxygen

Making them hotter...

A candle will burn about five times longer in a sealed flask filled with oxygen than in a flask willed with air, which has about 20% oxygen. The flame is smaller than in air, because the hot gas travels less distance before is is completely combusted.

When a glowing taper is inserted into a test tube of oxygen, it bursts back into flames.
